RESOURCES CONSULTING Serving the Allegheny Highland

Resources Consulting has been responsible for providing select marketing, technical, and business planning assistance to regional forest & wood products companies located in eleven counties of southwestern New York State. These activities have included networking with various public sector agencies and organizations linking small businesses with economic development programs.

Successful grant writing enabled the following ventures:

Formation of regional promotion & marketing assistance organization for the forest products industry in the southern tier of western New York, known as the Forestry Alliance of the Southern Tier (F.A.S.T.); $35,000 grant awarded by the U.S.D.A. Forest Service's Rural Development through Forestry Program.

Development of a regional wood products export trading coalition, known as Allegheny Highland Hardwoods; $50,000 grant awarded by the New York State Department of Economic Development's Global Export Marketing Services (GEMS) Program.

Development, design, publication, and distribution of the Allegheny Highland Forest Industry Profile Prospectus, a unique promotion & marketing directory; $30,000 grant awarded by the New York State Urban Development Corporation and the New York State Department of Economic Development's Strategic Industries Group Services (SIGS) Program.

Development, design, and manufacture of a prototype low volume waste wood management (pellet) system, "Demonstration Project: Value Added Wood By-Product Technology Development"; $55,800 grant awarded by the U.S.D.A. Forest Service's Rural Development through Forestry Program. System technology is expected to be operational and commercially available by mid-summer 1996.
